Welcome to the Robert F. Drummond School. Thank you for visiting our website!

The Drummond School houses 132 kindergarten students from the Lake Hopatcong side of Jefferson Township. Our half-day program has three classroom sections in the morning and three sections in the afternoon. In addition to the wonderful educational experiences in their classrooms, students receive library and physical education instruction each week as well. The kindergarten teachers collaborate to bring students many themed activities and special events that correspond with the curriculum. We strive to make students’ first grade- school experience a memorable one!

Instruction in all academic areas is hands-on throughout much of the day. We are using a balanced literacy approach to literacy instruction, where students participate in interactive read alouds, shared reading and writing activities and independent reading and writing activities each day. Students participate in learning centers daily, where they work independently or with a small group of students to complete curricular activities. We’ve begun implementing the Everyone Gets A Good Start (E.G.G.S) program as an early intervention instrument as well as guided reading with our highest level students.
