A Message from the High School Principal:

Dear Parents and Students,

Thank you for your participation at Back-to-School night.  We broke a 3-year record for attendance.  I am so glad that so many parents made it a priority to come to JTHS, meet their child's teachers, and hear about our many accomplishments.

Due primarily to the implementation of PARCC testing (which is adding an additional 9 days of testing), the JTHS faculty recommended the elimination of midterms starting this year.  This action aligns with PARCC which requires an end-of-year exam in English 9, 10, 11, Algebra I & II, and Geometry courses.

At JTHS, we are calling this a final exam/project to accommodate classes of every time.  Keeping with prior practice, no final exam/project will be given in Health/Physical Education.  I have prepared Final Exam Guidelines for the faculty which I am sharing with you here so that you may better understand how final exams will be implemented as well as the steps we are taking to ensure students retain material throughout the course of the year.

PSAT Day is Wednesday October 15.  All juniors will take the PSAT free of charge.  Sophomores interested in participating may register with Guidance until October 3rd for a cost of $17.  Limited tests may be available after Oct. 3.  Check with the Guidance Office.

JTHS is celebrating its 50th anniversary, homecoming, and the dedication for the new turf field this month.  Homecoming and the field dedication will be held on Friday October 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the varsity football game.  The 50th anniversary celebration will take place on Saturday October 11th at 10:00 a.m. in the Upperclass Café.  Charter faculty members will share their reflections, old yearbooks will be on display, and school tours will be provided.
