The professional strengths and accomplishments of the
school faculty at large work to complement the learning needs of the entire
student population. We continue to present congruent instruction
through collaboration which, I believe, creates effective and interactive
educational experiences for all of our students. As
special educators, an important part of our job is to teach strategies for
success through universal design and
technology that assists students with disabilities to access the general
education curricula. These exciting strategies enhance student learning and
confidence. This, in turn, will develop into a continued success
time after time.
Students are placed in the least restrictive environment following their
Individualized Educational Program. All of these options are discussed
during the annual review.
Without exception, teachers must know how to meet the needs of diverse
learners. But helping our students to succeed in life is a collective
project. Diversity must be valued and celebrated. All students work toward
the same educational outcomes based on high standards. There is a sense of
community in which everyone belongs, is accepted and is supported by his or
her peers and other members of the school community. Flexible groupings,
authentic and meaningful learning experiences, and developmentally
appropriate curricula are accessible to all students. Research based
instructional strategies are used. Staff collaboration along with new forms
of accountability are implemented. In addition, there is access to necessary
technology and accommodations. Parents are seen as equal partners.
Through teamwork and cooperation, I look forward to an
excellent academic year.
