Prior to my appointment in Jefferson Township, I had the privilege of serving as the Superintendent of Schools in the Roxbury Public School District. Throughout my tenure in Roxbury and my entire career, I have been motivated to work collaboratively with community stakeholders to implement numerous academic, technological, and cost-saving measures that have enhanced the learning environment for students. It is my mission to continue this philosophy to enhance the educational program for the children of Jefferson Township.
I served as the Superintendent of Schools and, prior thereto, Middle School Principal for the Rockaway Borough School District for three years. Before assuming those responsibilities, I held the positions of Supervisor of the Child Study Team, District Curriculum Coordinator, and part-time guidance counselor.
Prior to my positions in Rockaway Borough, I was the Assistant Principal at Cedar Grove High School. I also held the positions of Director of Testing and Supervisor of the Special Education and Business Departments. My responsibilities included developing a digital portfolio initiative and instituting virtual courses for students. Additionally, using additional classroom space at the high school, I worked to create a mild cognitive impairment special education program.
At Clifton High School, I was the East Wing Vice Principal. Clifton High School has approximately 3,400 students. I managed student discipline and attendance for over 800 students. In addition, I served as the off-site administrator for an alternative education program and supervised the ninth grade honors program. Other responsibilities included staff evaluation and managing the building’s security protocols and surveillance system.
In Hackensack, I held numerous positions over my twelve-year tenure. I began as a special education teacher in an alternative education program; taught elementary school; and then transitioned to the high school, where I taught special education (multiple subject areas), business education/Cisco Systems, and served in several administrative capacities. In addition to teaching, I coached football, ice hockey, baseball, and softball. While at Hackensack, I created an alternative education program for at-risk and special education students. I served as the district’s public relations coordinator, being responsible for the district’s quarterly newsletter. In this position, I also handled public relations for a $12.5 million school building referendum project and on the passage of five straight budget proposals.
I earned my doctorate in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in Staff Development from Nova Southeastern University. I hold two Masters of Arts degrees from Jersey City University, one in Administration and Supervision and the other in Special Education. My Bachelor of Science degree is in Business Management from Saint Peter’s College. In addition to being certified as a Chief School Administrator, I am certified as a School Business Administrator.
