J.T.M.S. ART

     The mission of the art department of J.T.M.S. is to help our students develop a perceptual awareness built upon individual uniqueness and talent while exploring themselves and the world around them.  We will motivate our students in many directions, in order to inspire them to create in an original, imaginative, and interesting way.

     A balanced curriculum is devised for each grade level and is based upon the N.J.C.C.C.S. and Discipline Based Art Education: 

1.      Technical Skills

2.      Aesthetic perception and judgment

3.      Art History

4.      Critical thinking skills                    

     Lesson plans are tailored toward:

·        Developing observation and critical thinking

·        Appreciation of different art styles and techniques

·        Understanding our art heritage throughout history

·        Exploring art processes

·        Creating satisfying art pieces

·        Developing their own artistic styles

·        Relating art to social, cultural, and curricular areas

       Our students work is proudly displayed within our school, community, and at the annual Rockaway Mall Project and the Ledgewood Malls North Jersey Student Craftsman’s Fair.
