BASIC CODING AND WEB DESIGN GRADE 9, 10, 11, 12
Basic Coding and Web Design is a one-semester, project-based course that infuses digital communication skills with basic coding and web design. Web design tools such as Dreamweaver and online Internet-based web software are used. Basic coding and web design develop three key areas: coding, web design, and basic game development. This course also offers basic components of Scratch. Each component of this course builds on the other, adding more challenging skills onto the foundation proficiency.
Pathways to Business - Grades 9, 10, 11
Pathways to Business is a full-year course. It is an introductory course designed to ensure that all students interested in furthering their business education have a broad understanding of the various business disciplines. This course will cover units in Economics, Business Management, Marketing, Human Resources, Financial Management, Business Organization, Entrepreneurship, and Business Ethics. The students complete a "Shark Tank" project.
Personal Finance Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Personal Finance is a one-semester course designed to help students understand the impact of individual choices on occupational goals and future earnings potential. Real-world topics covered will include income, money management, spending, and credit, as well as saving and investing. This course will provide a foundational understanding of making informed personal financial decisions.
Accounting 1 - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Accounting 1 is a full-year college‐level business course that explores how a business keeps records of its various operations. The focus is on current business and accounting practices. This class is intended for those students planning to take college courses in accounting, business management, law, or entering the business field. This class is a prerequisite to the College Accounting 2 Honors CLEP course.
Accounting 2 Honors (CLEP) - Grades 10, 11, 12
Accounting 2 Honors is a full year College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) offering students the opportunity to receive college credit for the information and skills they already possess. This Financial Accounting course continues where College Accounting I leaves off in covering skills and concepts that are generally taught in a first-semester undergraduate financial accounting course. In this course, students will be provided with the knowledge and materials necessary to practice and pass the Financial Accounting CLEP exam.
Marketing 1 - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Marketing 1 is a full-year business course that helps students understand the world of marketing, management, and merchandising. Areas of study include the importance of marketing to the success of a business, social responsibilities of business, promotional and advertising concepts and strategies, and technology applications for marketing. This course is a prerequisite for Marketing 2.
Marketing 2 Honors(CLEP) - Grades 10, 11, 12
Marketing 2 is a full-year advanced business course that expands the students’ knowledge of the world of marketing, as well as prepares them for the CLEP examination, which will potentially allow students to earn 3 university credits upon passing the CLEP exam. Topics covered include, the role of marketing in society and within a firm, understanding consumer and organizational markets, marketing strategy planning, the marketing mix, marketing institutions, and other selected topics, such as international marketing, ethics, marketing research, services, and not‐for‐profit marketing.
AP Economics - Grades 10, 11, 12
AP Economics is a year-long course. It will cover both microeconomics and macroeconomics. Micro focuses on the supply and demand for products, the labor markets, and the role competition plays in a free market system. Macro focuses on the economy as a whole, including economic measures, economic growth, fiscal policy, monetary policy, and international economics. Students are expected to take both AP exams in May. Extensive math skills are not required; however, the ability to analyze graphs and charts is essential.
Economics CP - Grades 10, 11, 12
Economics CP is a one-semester course designed to introduce students to both Macro- and Micro-Economics. The course examines the different economic systems that exist in today’s world, with special emphasis placed on the mixed economy of the United States. Further topics of study include the principles of supply and demand, business ownership and market structure, employment, money and banking, fiscal policy and monetary policy, and the United States’ role in the greater world economy.
Sports & Entertainment - Grades 10, 11, 12
Sports and Entertainment is a one-semester course. This course is designed to study marketing principles and concepts in the sports and entertainment industry. Instructional areas will include an orientation to the sports and entertainment industry, economics, event execution, career opportunities, decision making, event marketing, advertising and promotion, and legal aspects/contracts.
Business & Personal Law H (CLEP) - Grades 10, 11, 12
Business and Personal Law is a full-year course. This class will prepare you for college and potentially allow you to earn 3 university credits upon passing the CLEP exam. Introduction to Business Law Honors covers material that is usually taught in an introductory one-semester college course in the subject. The class not only places emphasis on understanding the functions of contracts in American business law, but it also on the history and sources of American law, legal systems and procedures, agency and employment, sales, and other related topics.
Entrepreneurship - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Entrepreneurship is a one-semester course. The class will look at entrepreneurs who changed business as well as those who contributed to the overall good of the business. Entrepreneurship encourages self-expression by inspiring students to think, analyze, and to apply concepts to real-world problems. This course explores such subjects as developing a business plan, identifying and meeting a market need, marketing a business, strategies for maintaining customer loyalty; and selecting a type of ownership.
Advertising & Promotion - Grades 10, 11, 12
Advertising and Promotion is a one-semester course that allows the students to take a walk through the advertising business. Everybody recognizes the NIKE "Swoosh" and McDonald's "golden arches." In the Advertising and promotion courses, students learn to appreciate the skills needed to secure market information, develop budgets, price advertising services and evaluate promotional campaigns.
