Dear MS/HS Parents and Guardians:

I hope this message finds you and your families well.

There has been some on-going confusion regarding student expectations for virtual learning beginning on June 1st and I would like to take this opportunity to clarify the district’s expectations.

During an administrative meeting, it was shared that teachers are inadvertently scheduling video conferences at the same time, forcing students to choose between the two lessons.  As a way to eliminate this conflict, a schedule was created for teachers in which to choose their times for video conferencing; your child will no longer need to choose between two different classes.  This was a schedule created for teachers, not a schedule that students are to follow.  Teachers will continue to announce the times of their video conferences and office hours as they have done since March 16th.   

Additionally, there are different messages around student attendance.  The teachers have been asked to record the attendance starting June 1st as a way to give us information on virtual learning that might be helpful in September.  It continues to be our expectation that students attend video conferences as valuable information is shared during that time; however, if students do not attend a video conference, they will not be penalized.  We are continuing to provide this flexibility regarding attendance because the district understands that each family has unique circumstances to contend with.

Please know that your child’s virtual learning experience should not change other than having only one conference scheduled at a time.  Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher(s), counselor, or principal.
