The STEP Program at Jefferson Township High School supports students ages 18–21 who have completed their graduation requirements and are preparing for life after high school. The program is designed to help students build the skills needed for successful postsecondary education or training, employment, independent living, and active participation in the community.

Through a combination of classroom instruction and real-world experiences, students focus on workplace readiness, daily living skills, social integration, self-advocacy, and self-determination. Instruction extends beyond the school setting into the community through Community-Based Instruction and Work-Based Learning experiences, allowing students to apply their skills in authentic environments.

Students receive individualized assessments and ongoing support from the Transition Coordinator, teachers, and job coaches. Progress is shared through regular communication, quarterly reports, and annual IEP meetings. With the support of local business partners, the STEP Program empowers students to become confident, productive, and more independent adults.
