Increased Class Sizes

To close a projected $4.8 million funding gap, the Board must examine difficult options. This includes increasing K–6 class sizes to as many as 33 students, resulting in potential savings of approximately $1 million.

District Reconfiguration Update

As we look ahead to the 2025–2026 school year, the district is announcing an update to administrative assignments. Effective July 1, Dr. Michael Valenti will be reassigned as Principal of Jefferson Township High School. Dr. Valenti is currently on extended medical leave, and interim administrative coverage will be arranged to ensure continued support and a smooth transition at the high school. When he is able to return, adjustments will be made to maintain continuity.

Restructuring Plan

Starting in September 2025, all Jefferson Township students in grades 4–8 will be housed at the current middle school as part of the district’s reconfiguration plan. A detailed restructuring plan was developed with input from staff, families, and administrators to ensure a smooth and supportive transition. The goal is to provide an age-appropriate, academically strong experience for every student with thoughtful scheduling, shared spaces, and programs tailored to each grade level. Orientation events, tours, and parent meetings are planned to help students and families feel comfortable and confident heading into the new school year.

District Reconfiguration Update

The Reconfiguration Committee has released tentative school start and end times for the 2025–2026 school year. While minor adjustments may still occur, changes are not expected to exceed ten minutes. These times reflect building schedules only—bus routes will be finalized and shared in August when the Parent Portal opens.

District Reconfiguration Update

The District Reconfiguration Committee has met twice since the September 16 Board meeting and is ready to share key updates. Special education programs will be housed at Briggs and Stanlick, with all schools continuing to offer in-class supports and related services. Students in preschool through grade 3 will attend different schools based on their home location. All students in grades 4–8 will attend the current Middle School, and high schoolers will remain at JTHS. The district is also exploring new transportation options. Further updates will be provided at upcoming Board of Education meetings and through district communications.

Giving female students access to computer science courses is necessary to ensuring gender parity in the industry’s high-paying jobs. November 22, 2022: In response to the nation-wide teacher shortage crisis, Jefferson Township Public Schools is announcing an increase in pay for substitute teachers. Substitutes can now make up to $175/day to work in Jefferson. The JTBOE approved a tiered pay schedule for substitutes based on accrued full days worked in a single school year. The new pay rate, effective 11/22/2022, is as follows:
