    Dear Parents & Guardians:

Happy Leap Year!  Did you know:  A leap year is a year in which an extra day is added to the calendar in order to synchronize it with the seasons.  In a leap year, the extra day (known as a leap day) is added at the end of February, giving it 29 instead of the usual 28 days.

In the meantime, we begin February preparing for our Second Grade Science Fair.  In anticipation, students and staff will attend an assembly called Science Tellers.  This program shows science in a fun and engaging way.  We hope it motivates our second grade students to come up with some creative ideas for their projects.  The Science Fair will be held on February 20th from 6:00-7:00 PM.  Our “scientists” will practice during the day by performing their experiments for the kindergarten and first grade students.

Can you believe that the 100th day of school is almost upon us?  Kindergarten, in particular, celebrates the 100th day with a project that helps them learn and understand the concept of hundreds, tens and ones.  Kindergarten imagination is displayed on t-shirts, decorated with 100 items of their choosing.  We love to see what they have created!

During the last week of February, we celebrate Wellness Week with a variety of activities planned to bring awareness of ways for our students to practice and cultivate healthy habits.
