November is the month to remind us to be thankful about the many positive things happening in our lives.  That includes our right to vote.  Briggs students will be learning about the process by voting for their favorite cookie.  In the running are Oreo and Chocolate Chip.  What’s your favorite?

Briggs students have been learning about kindness and respect.  What better way to demonstrate these positive character traits than to give to those in need during this season?  In this vein, we are running a food drive.  Please help us by sending in your non-perishable food donations by Friday, November 16th.  Items needed include: tuna, soup, peanut butter, jelly, coffee, tea, pasta, sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, instant mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, gravy, hot & cold cereals.

Please log onto your Realtime Parent Portal to make an appointment for a Parent-Teacher conference.  They are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, November 14th, 15th, and 16th.  Students will be dismissed at 1:10 PM on these three days.  We encourage all parents to schedule a conference with their child’s teacher.  Communication between home and school has a positive effect on student learning.

Our second grade classes are planning Grandparents Day for Wednesday, November 22nd.  We look forward to welcoming all the second grade students’ special guests.

Our first grade classes will be learning about family traditions this month.  This will surely be a special time for our students to share their unique celebrations and customs with their friends.
