    Dear Parents and Guardians,

If you believe Punxsutawney Phil, we are in for six more weeks of winter.  The calendar says Spring begins on March 20th.  Whatever you believe, Briggs School has so much going on, the next six weeks will fly by!

We have had some wonderful assemblies funded by our PTA: Rizzo’s Reptiles, a live penguin program from Jenkinson’s Aquarium and Slim Goodbody for Wellness Week.  Be sure to ask your children about these programs.  We are grateful to the PTA for funding them as they provide an enriching experience to supplement classroom learning.

    Penguin Program

February is Kindness Month.  Briggs Guidance Counselor, Elizabeth West, is running the Keys to Kindness initiative.  Students who are “caught being kind” will receive a key to display outside their classroom.  Each class that achieves the goal of 75 keys will participate in a special school-wide reward at the end of the month.

Wellness Week is February 12th-16th.  During their P.E. classes, students will participate in Jump Rope for Heart.  We also have Slim Goodbody and a dental health program scheduled.  Many classes are planning wellness/health-based center activities.

We are excited about the upcoming Briggs second grade Science Fair which will be held on Wednesday, February 21st.  The students will all have a chance to see the exhibits during the school day and parents are invited to visit from 6:00-7:00 pm.  Our student scientists have some creative and amazing projects planned!

Please be sure to visit our Student Showcase page to see the many activities your children are involved in at Briggs School.
