Welcome to the Jefferson Township Public Schools' Art Department. The study of the arts promotes interdisciplinary experiences which aid students in the integration of ideas, concepts and processes, and in a holistic perception of their world. Students learn to classify artworks by historical period, style and genre, and to view and understand them within a historical perspective. A greater understanding of diverse cultures is reflected in the arts. Students build art skills and acquire appreciation of concepts which can be used independently throughout their lives. We believe it is vital that we provide experiences for students that will instill a life-long love, appreciation, and involvement in the arts. Students of the arts will be better prepared to appropriately participate in the present and contribute to the future.
