    Our Mission

The members of the Mathematics Department are dedicated to providing mathematics education of the highest quality, and to meeting the varied educational needs of their students.  It is our mission to engage in the teaching and learning of mathematics and will challenge students to be independent learners and develop sound reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills necessary to compete in a global society.  We strive to help students develop an approach to mathematics that includes a growth mindset and an appreciation of challenges as a learning opportunity.  We aim to prepare students for future math courses, the challenges of the real world and to become confident lifelong learners.

    Our Vision

Our vision is focused on continuously meeting our stated mission, and to develop an intellectually rigorous community of students and faculty that engage in research, teaching, and learning that advances knowledge in diverse areas of mathematics and supports connections to other disciplines.  We must be able to prepare students for jobs that do not yet exist while ensuring students have the skills to persevere and collaborate when solving problems.
