New Jersey Common Curriculum
This curriculum is intended as a tool to support districts in their own curricular planning. During its development, teams of educators used all available information about the Common Core State Standards and PARCC to appropriately organize and sequence the standards across five units.
Common Core State Standards
The standards are designed to build upon the most advanced current thinking about preparing all students for success in college, career, and life. This will result in moving even the best state standards to the next level. In fact, since this work began, there has been an explicit agreement that no state would lower its standards. The standards were informed by the best in the country, the highest international standards, and evidence and expertise about educational outcomes.
The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC)
PARCC is a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in college and their careers. The assessments are aligned with the new, more rigorous Common Core State Standards (CCSS), they ensure that every child is on a path to college and career readiness by measuring what students should know at each grade level. They will also provide parents and teachers with timely information to identify students who may be falling behind and need extra help.
