Vehicle Safety Features
By applying modern technology, transportation providers, manufacturers and drivers are coming up with creative ways to protect children in and around the school bus. Some of the most effective safety measures result from improvements to existing school bus equipment and other safety measures come in the form of new products. The following represent a few examples of these safety fatures:
All school vehicles are 2-way radio equipped. This enables the driver to have direct communication with the Transportation Office while en route.
Seatbelts and high back seats are the latest safety features for students protection.
Emergency exits have been upgraded to include 2 roof hatches and 2 full window escape areas per vehicle. Of course, many other exits exist, such as rear door, front door, etc. Fire extinguishers and first aid kits are positioned in close proximity to the driver in the event of an emergency.
